Charting into Asia Pacific with IMDEX Asia 2011

21 February 2011 – IMDEX Asia 2011, Asia Pacific’s dedicated international maritime defence show will be returning for its eighth edition from 18 to 20 May 2011 at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) in Singapore. With approximately four months to the event, exhibition space is already filling up fast, with more than 85% of space already taken up by leading industry players.

“Asia Pacific is a region with burgeoning demand for the best technological solutions in maritime defence sector. The vast amount of support from our exhibiting partners is extremely encouraging as they recognise the business opportunities presented by IMDEX Asia. We are looking forward to be their conduit to grow their business here,” said Mr Jimmy Lau, Managing Director of Singapore Airshow & Events (SAe).

With more than 100 exhibiting companies, returning exhibitors include Atlas Elektronik, DCNS, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, MTU, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, ST Marine and ThyssenKrupp Marine. Joining IMDEX Asia 2011 also are first time exhibitors MJP Waterjets, General Dynamics Canada and Brody Flow Control.

The biennial show, organised by the SAe is a major event in the international naval and maritime defence calendar. With Singapore strategically positioned as a gateway in the centre of the fast-growing Asian maritime defence industry, IMDEX Asia is a springboard for exhibitors to enter Asia Pacific. The organisers are committed to raising the bar for the event by bringing together a higher number of industry leaders, key decision-makers and stakeholders in the maritime defence industry to create a conducive environment for the exchange of insightful perspectives and networking opportunities.

IMDEX Asia will play a prominent role in providing trade exhibitors and visitors with a one-stop platform to keep abreast of the latest maritime defence technologies, research development in and beyond the region and a platform for collaborations of strategic partnerships amongst key industry players.

The event will be held at the CEC, a world-class purpose-built multi-dimensional facility with a 40,000 square metre covered exhibition space and a 100,000 square metre outdoor display area. The venue comes with a seafront location, offering a panoramic view of Singapore’s eastern seaboard, where integration between land, sea and air assets can be made seamlessly, allowing indoor and outdoor exhibits and demonstrations.

Held in conjunction with IMDEX Asia 2011 will be the International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) and the Naval Technology Seminar (NTS), which seek to share strategic and insightful exchange of information and know-how on naval and maritime affairs. The various participating navies and maritime agencies will also engage in exercises for cross learning through discussions to strengthen the operating paradigms that manage the evolving challenges and promote inter-agency sharing which helps in ensuring the safety and security at sea.

SAe acquired IMDEX Asia in 2010 and will be organising the coming maritime and defence show with the support of the Republic of Singapore Navy. SAe is also the organiser of Singapore Airshow – Asia’s largest and one of the top three aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world; other events include the World Cities Summit, Singapore International Water Week and ScreenSingapore.
